DESCRIPTION:Reuben Leon Kahn was born on July 26th\, 1887 in Kovno\, today Kaunas\, Lithuania. Kahn conducted studies on blood reactions\, which allowed him to develop an efficient test for the detection of syphilis (1923). This test has shown false results in some cases\, for example\, if patients had recently received vaccines or had other illnesses in addition to syphilis. However\, it was more efficient than August von Wassermann’s prolonged test. Later\, he also found tests for tuberculosis\, malaria and leprosy.
